South Downs Way:
The South Downs Way is a 161 km (100 mile) trail for walkers, horse riders and cyclists. It stretches from Eastbourne in Sussex to Winchester in Hampshire with marked routes and endless bridleways along the way; and takes on average 6 days to complete from end to end. The South Downs in now a designated National Park and an area of outstanding beauty. For more information visit www.nationaltrail.co.uk.

Friston Forest and the Cuckmere Valley:
Friston Forest consists of 3,000 acres of woodland with a multitude of tracks making it possible to ride for hours without leaving the forest. (Riding is by permit only, other than the designated public bridleways.  Should you wish to venture into other parts of the forest, please ask for further information.) For the cyclist there are marked routes, which include a family cycle trail, mountain bike trail and three forest and downland walks. The village of West Dean and the Seven Sisters Country Park are within easy reach. Lullington Heath and the Long Man can also be accessed from Friston Forest.

Located a few hundred yards from us, The Eight Bells is only a couple of minutes’ walk away and thus convenient for both lunch and dinner.
